Mindframe to stand at Claiborne Farm following racing career

Barbara D. Livingston
Mindframe will begin his stallion career at Claiborne Farm after he is retired from racing.

Classic-placed Grade 1 winner Mindframe will stand at Claiborne Farm in Paris, Ky., upon his eventual retirement from racing, the farm announced Sunday. The 4-year-old son of Constitution currently races for Repole Stable and St. Elias Stable, which purchased him in partnership as a yearling.

Mindframe, trained by Todd Pletcher, has never been worse than second in six career starts. In just his third lifetime outing, he was beaten a half-length in the 2024 Belmont Stakes at Saratoga, then was second again to Belmont winner Dornoch in the Grade 1 Haskell.

A century after his Belmont win, American Flag's influence persists

Barbara D. Livingston
Leading Belmont contender Sovereignty has a familial connection to the race's 1925 winner.

American Flag, who won the 1925 Belmont Stakes, is from one of the most successful sirelines in that classic’s history. But it was through his daughters, not his sons, that American Flag left his legacy to the breed.

A century after his Belmont victory, he is linked to this year’s Kentucky Derby winner, Sovereignty, as well as a number of other prospects for the 2025 Belmont Stakes.

Preakness hopeful Goal Oriented backed by historic breeders

Barbara D. Livingston
Goal Oriented will enter the Preakness off an allowance win at Churchill Downs that made him a perfect 2 for 2.

Baeza, who finished a closing third in the Kentucky Derby, is among those awaiting the Belmont Stakes a little more than three weeks off. Historic Runnymede Farm, which raised the colt and consigned him to sale for his breeder, does, however, have another rooting interest in Saturday’s Preakness Stakes in Goal Oriented. The farm co-bred, raised, and sold the lightly raced and unbeaten colt, who is from the immediate family of Eclipse Award champion Lady Eli.

Preakness 2025: Gosger can expand Harvey Clarke Racing Stable's legacy

Coady Media
Gosger stamped himself a Preakness contender with a victory in the Lexington Stakes at Keeneland.

The late Harvey Clarke found glory as a classic breeder when I’ll Have Another won the 2012 Kentucky Derby and then put on a courageous performance to win the Preakness Stakes. Clarke won’t be here to see it, but his family stable’s homebred Gosger, from the same family as I’ll Have Another, is set to seek another Preakness for his program when he goes in this Saturday’s 150th edition of the classic.
