Bettrluckythangood (#5) has been in excellent form through his recent starts at this level, improving in each successive race. He got a wide trip trying to close against an inside bias on the inner turf at Saratoga two back. Then last time he again tried to make a wide move around the far turn and was finishing best of all late. He needs a strong setup, and he figures to get that here with the TimeformUS Pace Projector predicting a fast pace.

Finish: 4th by 2 1/4

Debut 3-year-old trained like he needed one, ran accordingly. Lacked speed, saved ground rallying on turn of turf sprint, finished evenly, galloped out in front. Solid debut by gelding.

BELMONT AT THE BIG A RACE 7: THE QUEENS M G looks to rebound after an off-the-board finish last out in the Spinaway Stakes. The Thousand Words filly stalked early and tired late in her first Grade 1 start, but it came over a muddy Saratoga main track. If she can get back to her career-best performance two back in the Adirondack Stakes, she should handle this field. (1)

Claiming filly exploited speed-friendly surface to dominate N3L claiming sprint. Sped to lead, opened up, plenty left late. Lightly raced this year, loves Santa Anita, can repeat.
