Three things you should know before betting the Camellia Bowl:

1. Georgia State has thrived in this kind of spot in recent years, as the Panthers are 9-0 straight-up and 8-0-1 ATS as a favorite of between 3 and 10 points since the start of 2019. They’ve outscored opponents by an average of 13 points over the nine games. The key matchup in this one would appear to be a Georgia State rushing offense that ranked eighth among FBS teams with an average of 224.5 rushing yards per game against a Ball State rush defense that ranked 92nd in FBS, allowing an average of 169.5 rushing yards per game.

2. Ball State’s 4-8 against-the-spread record during the 2021 regular season included a 1-4 against-the-spread mark (2-3 straight-up) over the team’s final five games. Georgia State, meanwhile, started slow before playing its best football late in the season. The Panthers started 1-4 straight-up (2-3 against the spread) before going 6-1 both straight-up and against the spread over their final seven games.

3. Among 130 FBS teams, Ball State was one of only 25 to allow opponents to complete more than 65 percent of their pass attempts during the 2021 regular season. Georgia State is 10-3 straight-up and 11-1-1 against the spread since the start of the 2019 season when facing a team that allows opponents to complete at least 62 percent of their pass attempts. That includes records of 4-1 straight-up and 5-0 against the spread when facing such opponents during the 2021 regular season.
