2023 MEET STATS: 221 - 643 / $1,073.50 (-$212.50) BEST BETS: 37 - 61 / $116.20 (-$5.80) BEST BET: RJ SPORTS IMAGE (11th) SPOT PLAY: CAPTIVATE HANOVER (3rd) Race 1: NW30000 in last 5 starts Pace (2) OAKWOODNITTOWNIT IR was second best at the Open level three back then was 57/1 in last week's edition which signifies he was overmatched. Import drops back to the NW30K level and returns to Zeron. They teamed up for a win from a similar spot four back. (4) GREAT SOMEWHERE was favored last out in the age-restricted Open but never fired; he too finds a better spot to rebound. (3) HICKFROMFRENCHLICK has speed inside of him but he's best on the front end and if Dube can cross over early he may be trouble for the top ones. [DRF HARNESS: Get Harness Eye PPs for this card] Race 2: 3-5YO $50,000 Claiming Pace (4) SHAKESPEARE failed to make an impression at the age-restricted Open level for his new connections so he drops back in for a tag and also adds Bartlett. This could be a live spot for his off-the-pace tactics. (1) PINEBUSH LIVESAVER is in career form and is a big threat to take another. (2) KOOTENAY SANTANNA also drops from the Open level and goes second-time Lasix for the Burke barn. [DRF BETS: Wager on tonight's Yonkers card at DRF Bets.com!] Race 3: NW30000 in last 5 starts Pace (3) CAPTIVATE HANOVER has been a solid claim for Garcia-Herrera and he's back in for a tag despite performing well at the Open level. Versatile gelding gets top billing here. (6) POINTOMYGRANSON has been on a major roll since returning to Yonkers and while he faces better he has the speed and the form to make a major impression here. (2) SPLASH BROTHER was favored last week, won't be tonight but has a chance. Race 4: NW15000 in last 5 starts Pace (3) MICKY GEE N closed a ton last start to be second best and he's feeling good again; I know I'm getting sucked in to him tonight but I can't help myself. Could be overbet, though. (4) SAVE ME A DANCE is on the comeback trail and has plenty of class. (1) KINGSVILLE gave an improved effort last week but still weakened to third; he's a prime contender again from the rail for the DiDomenico barn. Race 5: $30,000 Claiming Pace (4) BRACKLEY BEACH was claimed out of his last start by Berkeley despite being 0 for 16 (now 17) on the season but he does have class to him and was Kakaley's choice. (1) CHANGE STRIDE N faltered on the front end in his last two off the Engblom claim but he's probably better suited in a stalking spot. (3) HEART ON MY SLEEVE bumps up again off another claim and he's been razor-sharp; Gingras picks up the drive. Race 6: NW11131 in last 5 starts Pace (4) HECANDANCENCRUISE went a game effort in defeat last out and now the Bongiorno trainee drops back to the level where he dominated back at the beginning of May; 4-year-old is pretty logical selecting here. (2) JUDDY DOUGLAS A has been disappointing lately but he also drops and could make an impact here. (6) STRAIGHT UP COOL picks up Bartlett; speed try coming? Race 7: $50,000 Claiming Pace (2) SAN DOMINO A isn't nearly what he once was but he still seems capable of popping up with a good effort from time to time and he meets a pretty soft field here on his shift back into claimers. (3) BALLERAT BOOMERANG is another veteran with plenty of back class and he gets needed post relief. (5) KING JAMES EXPRESS has been in decent form and seems like an okay fit here as he moves from an age-restricted to an open event; Bartlett drives again. Race 8: Can You Go The Distance? Final - 1 1/4 Mile Pace (3) ROCK DIAMONDS N has been almost perfect since moving to the Bongiorno barn, which honestly didn't surprise me considering he's got loads of class and was able to start out at the lowest levels. I don't think the added distance is going to be a problem. (2) QUALITY BUD was a solid second again last week and another runner-up effort will put this guy close to $100K earned for the season. Holland gets along great with the veteran and he's got tactical options from this spot. (4) ANOTHRMASTRPIECE N cruised in his last two for Tritton and he's got plenty of experience with longer distances from his time in Australia. [DRF HARNESS: Sign up for our FREE DRF Harness Digest Newsletter] Race 9: Open Handicap Pace (3) AMERICAN DEALER N beat up on NW30000 types last start but he's a proven Open-type talent. Borgata consolation winner has a post edge on his main rivals and Joe B figures to take advantage of that. (5) MOONSHINE KISSES is a winning machine both at Yonkers and out of town; Brennan is back driving as he returns from Plainridge and he'll be firing off the gate. (6) COVERED BRIDGE is likely at a tactical disadvantage as he's assigned the outside post and doesn't have a load of early speed. He was able to roll home from the back to win last week, however. Race 10: NW20000 in last 5 starts Pace (2) SPEED MAN N hasn't won in a while but I'm not ready to jump off the bandwagon just yet, especially as he drops again and draws well. (5) SHINE A LIGHT is also at a reduced level tonight and could be leaving the gate. (6) FUNATTHEBEACH N has only earned $6,510 in his last six starts which is hard to fathom but it's not like he's been bad; classmaster must be considered. Race 11: NW7500 in last 5 starts Pace (3) RJ SPORTS IMAGE won by a hundred last week with Steve Smith on the perfect catch drive; Engblom trainee repeats with Bartlett. (1) ODDS ON CAPITALISM was narrowly defeated from the eight hole last start when dropping in class and now he moves all the way inside. (5) SO MANY ROADS can be a closing threat for Lachance, as usual. [DRF HARNESS: Follow me on Twitter! @drfharnessmatt]
