2024 MEET STATS: 68 - 224 / $400.60 (-$47.40) BEST BETS: 11 - 19 / $39.50 (+$1.50) BEST BET: STRIKING IMPACT (7th) SPOT PLAY: ROCK DIAMONDS N (3rd) Race 1: $20,000 Claiming Pace (3) TUGGIN ON MY HEART has been all business in his last two and the Bongiorno trainee remains at a winning level; looks to get the Pick 4 off to a chalky start. (1) PRETTY HANDSOME was second best to the top one two back then was saddled with an outside post; moving back to the rail should make this veteran the chief threat. (5) KOUNT BLASTER will be coming from midpack and if conservatively handled could make a run into the picture at a price. [DRF HARNESS: Get Harness Eye PPs for this card] Race 2: Invitational Handicap Pace (3) GREG THE LEG hiked to this level last week and was a respectable third. This is an evenly-matched field for five horses and he should offer a fair price. (5) BOILING OAR won out of the pocket in last week’s invite and now moves outside but he can close just as effectively than if he was sitting up close; one to beat despite the post. (1) TAKE A GAMBLE added Zeron and jogged at the NW30000 level; rail draw here. [DRF BETS: Wager on tonight's Yonkers card at DRF Bets.com!] Race 3: NW23141 in last 5 starts Pace (3) ROCK DIAMONDS N gets major post relief in his second start off the bench and it’s safe to say the veteran will be primed for an aggressive effort. (2) HEAVEN ON HIGH N chased second best in his local return and that winner looks to be one of the choices up in class in race #2; Stalbaum trainee looks live here. (5) BURNHAM BOY N had been going well prior to last week’s flat effort; unsure of the trip here but he should offer value. Race 4: MGM Borgata Pace Leg #2 (2) DUNKIN’ gave a very good accounting of himself in round one and looks like he's proven that he can belong with these; 4YO lands an improved post with that tactical edge over his main rivals. (3) HELLABALOU faltered on the front end last week but deserves another chance. (5) BACKSTREET SHADOW joins the party in round two and don’t forget he was a Borgata finalist two of the last three seasons; enters off two winning quas. Race 5: $30,000 Claiming Pace (1) HURRIKANEKINGJAMES has been a model of consistency for months now and has done it for multiple barns. Adamczyk trainee drops from the 40’s to the 30’s which figures to get him over the hump. (3) GDS THUNDER GB has plenty to prove in the class department but he has proven early speed and a better post first out for Laterza. (4) URIEL BLUE CHIP also drops like the top choice and he beat 40’s two back; Engblom/Gingras connections in play here. Race 6: MGM Borgata Pace Leg #2 Tough race with three opening-round winners. (2) LINEDRIVE HANOVER looked like he was in midseason form with his 1:51 2/5 romp right off the bench. (4) DESPERATE MAN also sparkled in his 2024 debut and he went over the $1 million mark lifetime. With his class it’s not too early to start the countdown to $2 million. (3) COVERED BRIDGE also won last week after having it all his own way, adding to his gaudy record the last year-plus. Gillis trainee is set to offer the most value of the ‘big three’. Race 7: 3-5YO $50,000 Claiming Pace (4) STRIKING IMPACT has raced very well for practically every start when in the Bako barn so it’s a bit surprising he hasn’t won in a while. This looks like one of the better spots he’ll find. (6) JUST ENUFF STUFF has been right there in all but one recent start for the Bongiorno outfit but moving outside a few spots has the potential to make things tricky early; clean getaway makes him the main threat to the top one. (2) SPORTS FAN came from nowhere to upset in his local return and he steps up in price a notch; Bartlett gets the drive and he may be rolling late. Race 8: $50,000 Claiming Pace (3) THRASHER had to come from last in his return to the Alexander barn and was left with too much to do. He gets some needed post relief and can be more involved in the early stages. (2) MOVIN’ ON UP has done just that after being claimed for $30K four back. Connections have made almost that much back in four starts and he’s a big player again. (7) FULSOME is proven at this level and shouldn’t have much of a problem going from the age-restricted to the open claimers; problem clearly exists in the form of an outside post. Race 9: MGM Borgata Pace Leg #2 (2) SEMI TOUGH was derailed by post six in the first Borgata round and that ended his winning streak. Burke trainee had been one of the sharpest pacers in the land prior to this series and he absolutely deserves the call moving back inside. (5) COACHES CORNER was giving up some class to others coming into this series but the 4YO went well for second last week and he can fire off the gate with Bartlett. (1) PLEASELETMEKNOW has gotten progressively better in each of his two 2024 starts and should be good for a board spot. Race 10: MGM Borgata Pace Leg #2 It’s easy to root for (1) THIS IS THE PLAN and it was nice to see the former champ race so well in his 9YO debut. From the rail looks like Yannick can cut this mile if he wants. (4) I DID IT MYWAY didn’t fire at odds-on upon arrival from Delaware. Is a more aggressive effort coming tonight? (3) WHATS STANLEY GOT A outraced his odds in a big way in round one. [DRF HARNESS: Sign up for our FREE DRF Harness Digest Newsletter] Race 11: NW10501 in last 5 starts Pace (4) JUDDY DOUGLAS A has been looking to return to top form as he’s been bouncing around different classes looking for the right fit. Last week facing $50K claimers he was a good second and this week he should be a decent price with Holland picking up the drive. (5) GINGRAS BEACH has been much improved with his namesake in the bike and is likely to be firing from the gate. (3) ANOTHRMASTRPIECE N held #5 at bay in his quick 1:52 3/5 win last week but could be overbet coming off that race. Race 12: $40,000 Claiming Pace (6) OZONE BLUE CHIP has been doing his thing for years which is to show up for work and make money. Last four at the price resulted in a win, second, third and fourth. Veteran can fire off the gate if needed and will be a healthy price. (4) REIGNING DEO had a big run in the recent claiming series for this level but as an off-the-pace player he sometimes needs things to go his way. Don’t take too short of a price. (3) MOTIVE HANOVER could not last despite a favorable pace last week and maybe he was aimed too high at the $40K claiming level; he’s probably good enough to land another share, however.
