HOT SPRINGS, Ark. - The Oaklawn Park board of stewards has reinstated Florida-based trainer Marty Wolfson to good standing after suspending him last Sunday for failure to pay a $500 fine dating back to It’s a Bird’s disqualification from the 2009 Oaklawn Handicap. Payment of the fine was received from Wolfson on Wednesday, said Stan Bowker, the state steward at Oaklawn.\r\nIt’s a Bird tested positive for naproxen, a nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory, following the April 2009 race. He was disqualified by the Arkansas Racing Commission during a hearing in July 2009 and the winning purse was ordered redistributed. The horse’s connections appealed to circuit court and in September 2010 a judge upheld the commission’s decision. \r\nThe purse earnings, which had been paid out shortly after the Oaklawn Handicap, were then returned to the commission, but the $500 fine assessed to Wolfson had been outstanding.
