HALLANDALE BEACH, Fla. – Integration, the undefeated 3-year-old, is likely to run in the $1 million Pegasus World Cup Turf on Jan. 27, trainer Shug McGaughey said Tuesday. “I’m going to pencil it in. We’ll see how it comes up and how he’s doing. It’s a good possibility,” McGaughey said. Integration, a son of Quality Road, is 3 for 3, with victories in the Grade 3 Virginia Derby at Colonial Downs and the Grade 2 Hill Prince at Aqueduct, the latter in which he equaled a 38-year turf course record. Immediately after the Hill Prince, McGaughey had talked about putting Integration away and pointing to the major turf stakes in the spring. But the horse appears to be doing too well to stop on him at this point. “You hate to stop right now, they can go the wrong way on you in a hurry,” McGaughey said. “He’s taking his races really well. His races have been well-spaced, and the time in between races doesn’t seem to bother him. All that works in his favor.” Meanwhile, McGaughey seemed to be leaning toward running Signator, a winner of two straight allowance races at Aqueduct, in the $150,000 Queens County Stakes on Dec. 31 at Aqueduct over the Grade 3 Harlan’s Holiday Stakes at Gulfstream the previous day though, as of Tuesday, had not yet made a final decision. :: Want to learn more about handicapping and wagering?
