Remington Park will spotlight 2-year-old Quarter Horses on Friday and Saturday night, when the Oklahoma City track puts on 20 trial races for the $825,000-estimated Remington Park Futurity. The finale is April 18. The trials have drawn 192 juveniles. There are 10 trials on Friday and 10 on Saturday, with each race at 330 yards and each worth $15,000. The Grade 1 race is the middle leg of Remington’s trio of rich futurities. The final leg, the Grade 1, $1 million Heritage Place Futurity, is May 30. Remington has been racing spectator-free since the middle of March, when it temporarily closed down its casino in the wake of the coronavirus pandemic. There is one other track racing in Oklahoma, Will Rogers Downs, which is putting on a meet for Thoroughbreds. Will Rogers told horsemen via text that Tuesday’s handle of $3,379,907 on its 10-race card from all sources set an all-time live handle record for the state of Oklahoma. Remington Park handled a record $3,365,368 on its Springboard Mile card in December.
