SHAKOPEE, Minn. – Course specialist Stoupinator ran her record on the Canterbury Park turf to 3 for 3 when besting Notte d'Oro for a three-quarter-length tally in Saturday's $75,000 Minnesota HBPA Distaff. The Mac Robertson-trained Stoupinator ($9.60), a 5-year-old Stormy Atlantic mare, added the HBPA Distaff win to her other local stakes triumph in the 2013 Northbound Pride Oaks. In the one-mile stakes over a turf course rated firm, Stoupinator rallied four wide under jockey Dean Butler before fending off Notte d'Oro's steady effort. The forwardly placed Awesome Flower held on for third, three-quarters of a length in front of the 8-5 favorite Kiss to Remember and a half-length behind Notte d'Oro. Owned by Novogratz Racing Stables, Stoupinator collected $45,000 for beating seven fillies and mares. She covered the mile in 1:35.96. Az Ridge wins fourth straight Az Ridge continued his excellent 2015 campaign with an authoritative 2 1/2-length win in the co-featured Brooks Fields, a $75,000 turf test that drew seven colts and geldings. Conditioned by Dan McFarlane, the favored Az Ridge ($4.60), a dominant force at Turf Paradise over the winter, led every step of the way for the most valuable victory in his current four-race win streak. The talented sprinter El Seventyseven chased Az Ridge home and ended up 2 1/4 lengths clear of Honor the Kitten. Az Ridge was ridden by usual pilot Geovanni Franco and earned $45,000 for the Sawyer Cattle Company. The well-managed 6-year-old Toccet gelding raced his mile in 1:35.91.
