Kiss to Remember could not hold off the late-charging Shanon Nicole in the $205,200 Indiana Grand at Indiana Grand Race Course on Wednesday evening. Jockey Miguel Mena kept Shanon Nicole off the pace set by Kiss to Remember until upper stretch and then went to work. The Mike Maker-trained Shanon Nicole responded, drawing clear to a one-length win over the sealed, sloppy track. Kiss to Remember, under Jeremy Rose, was second, 6 1/2 lengths in front of Awesome Jill in third. Shanon Nicole ran the mile and 70 yards in 1:40.11 and returned $16.20 to win. On the undercard, Sister Ginger ducked to the inside and took the $106,250 the Girls Inc. of Shelbyville Shelby County Stakes. Ridden by Ricardo Santana Jr. for trainer Steve Asmussen, Sister Ginger was back early in the field of older fillies and mares. Santana sent Sister Ginger to the rail in the stretch, and she overtook the pacesetting Stoptalkingmaria. The margin of victory was a neck. Via Villaggio was third, a half-length farther back. The running time for 1 1/16 miles over the sealed, sloppy track was 1.42.82, and Sister Ginger returned $9.20 to win. Both the Indiana Grand for 3-year-old fillies and the Girls Inc. of Shelbyville  for older fillies and mares were originally scheduled for turf before being moved to the main track.
