Sebastian Saez, 17, just lost his bug and began riding at Arlington for the first time about two weeks ago, but he was immediately well mounted and has gotten off to a good start here, winning with five of his first 17 mounts. Saez is the younger brother of New York-based jockey Luis Saez and the late Juan Saez, who was killed in a fall at Indiana Grand in 2014. Saez, according to his agent, Shannon McGovern, was injured in December and then rode somewhat sparingly earlier this year while trying to preserve his apprentice allowance. Saez rode 10 winners from 146 mounts during the Oaklawn meet this year but then had only about 50 mounts from the end of the meet there in mid-April until he arrived at Arlington in late July. Saez has a career record of 60-76-76 from 614 mounts and could ride at Hawthorne or Keeneland after Arlington, McGovern said.
