ALTOONA, Iowa – The heavily favored Sarah Sis ($3.20) made a pleasing return to form in Saturday night's $75,000 Panthers Stakes by leading every step of the way for a 1 3/4-length tally. Breaking sharply under jockey Junior Felix, Sarah Sis, the winner of Oaklawn Park's Grade 3 Honeybee on March 7, controlled proceedings through comfortable fractions of 24.08 seconds, 48.42, and 1:13 in the one-mile event for 3-year-old fillies. In the stretch, Sarah Sis had plenty left to hold the determined effort of Sweet Opportunity safe. The rail-hugging Magnolia Steel was 1 3/4 lengths farther back in third. Based at Arlington Park with trainer Ingrid Mason, Sarah Sis rebounded from a tough task in the Grade 1 Kentucky Oaks when she was not persevered with after being outrun early. Her recent works over Arlington's Polytrack suggested the Sharp Humor filly was back in fine fettle. Collecting $45,000 for owner Joe Ragsdale, Sarah Sis, a hopeful for the June 27 Grade 3 Iowa Oaks, covered the mile in 1:38.24. Hillbilly Royalty wins Prairie Mile Hillbilly Royalty took Saturday's co-featured $75,000 Prairie Mile with a sharp effort, pulling clear into the stretch before holding on well for a 1 1/2-length win over Paid Admission's solid rally. Stalking Shrewd Move's quick pace, the Donnie K. Von Hemel-trained Hillbilly Royalty ($6.80) closed in under jockey Luis Quinonez on the far turn and kicked clear into the stretch. Paid Admission cut into the winning margin but posed no serious threat. The favored Allied Air Raid's steady effort was good enough for third, three lengths behind Paid Admission. Hillbilly Royalty, whose time of 1:36.98 was the fastest mile of the season, earned $44,100 for Toby Keith's Dream Walkin Farms Inc.
