Tim Tetrick achieved another major milestone on Tuesday's card at The Red Mile by becoming just the third member of harness racing's $250 million earnings club for drivers, joining John Campbell and David Miller. Tetrick hit that goal with a third-place finish in a non-wagering $80,000 Kentucky Championship Series race for 2-year-old filly trotters with Ake Svanstedt-trained Life Itself. While Life Itself was third, another Svanstedt trainee in Special Way, driven by Svanstedt, won the tilt by 2 1/4 lengths in 1:53 4/5 after racing in the pocket through panels of 29 1/5, 58 1/5, and 1:27. Walner Payton (Dexter Dunn), who led the way, ended up second. Svanstedt trains Special Way, a daughter of Walner-Special Hill, for owners/breeders Brittany Farms, Marvin Katz, and Al Libfeld. She has three wins from five chances and has now earned $125,975. After Monday's program was cancelled early due to heavy rain and subsequent unsafe track conditions, the Kentucky Championship Series leg for sophomore pacing colts and geldings was moved to today and held as a non-wagering event. I Did It Myway (Andy McCarthy) would score the victory in 1:48 2/5 after he tracked in the pocket behind Dancin Sancho (Trevor Smith) through fractions of 27 2/5, 54 3/5, and 1:22. Pebble Beach (Todd McCarthy) sat off-the-pace in fourth and closed in 25 3/5 but fell a length short at the wire, and Dancin Sancho held third. Trained by Tony Alagna, I Did It Myway is a Captaintreacherous colt owned by breeder Joe Sbrocco in partnership with Country Club Acres Inc., Don Latore, and Alagna And Fodera Racing. This was his tenth triumph from 20 starts, and he has now banked $378,658. Rounding out the day's Kentucky Championship Series action was a dash for freshman pacing colts and geldings, and Confederate (Tetrick) took over the top spot after the 28 second opening quarter. From there, Confederate kept command through middle-half stations of 56 3/5 and 1:24 2/5, then sprinted home in 26 2/5 to defeat Blue Lou (A. McCarthy) by three lengths in 1:50 4/5. Bamboozler (Dexter Dunn) finished third. A Sweet Lou-Geothermal colt trained by Brian Brown, Confederate was bred by Diamond Creek Farm and is owned by Diamond Creek's racing operation. He has a record of 3-0-1 from four starts, pushed his bankroll to $96,200, and paid $4.44 to win as the favorite. Combustion (Todd McCarthy, 1:50 4/5) and Railee Something (Dexter Dunn, 1:54 2/5) won the $30,000 Kentucky Commonwealth Series races for 2-year-old pacing colts and geldings and 2-year-old trotting fillies, respectively. Combustion, bred by Brittany Farms, is a Captaintreacherous colt trained by Brett Pelling for owners Diamond Creek Racing, Thomas Dillon, Scott Dillon, and Silva Cooper Stables, and Railee Something, a homebred for Ronald Mersky, is a daughter of International Moni trained by Chris Ryder.
