On a day when families gather, it was something of a family affair in the $300,000 Cardinal Stakes on Thursday at Churchill Downs. Proctor Street followed in the hoofsteps of her dam, Proctor’s Ledge, by becoming a stakes winner beneath the twin spires, notching a three-quarter-length score in the 1 1/8-mile turf tilt for fillies and mares. This was the fifth win from eight career starts for Proctor Street ($8.44), who, like her dam, is a homebred for Patricia Moseley and trained by Brendan Walsh. Proctor’s Ledge won three graded stakes for the duo, including the Grade 2 Churchill Distaff Turf Mile in 2018. “I’m so thankful for [Moseley],” Walsh said. “She’s been such a big supporter of mine throughout the years. This is a great win and it’s so great to have this filly. I think she’s started to turn a corner. Who knows what she might do from here?” :: Access the most trusted data and information in horse racing! DRF Past Performances and Picks are available now. Proctor Street, a Street Sense filly who had Tyler Gaffalione in the irons on Thursday, emerged to split horses near the furlong grounds between favored Pin Up Betty and pacesetting Stylish Sue. Proctor Street edged away in the final yards to her final margin. Behind Proctor Street, it was a blanket finish for the minor awards, with Awesome Czech, on the rail, eking out second by a head over Fleetingly. The latter was a neck ahead of Adrasteia, with Pin Up Betty winding up just another nose back in fifth.  The winning time on firm turf on a chilly Thanksgiving, with temperatures not getting out of the 30s, was 1:49.65. :: Want to learn more about handicapping and wagering?
