Star Pearl,  under jockey Erik Rodriguez,  was kept just off the early pace and rallied in upper stretch to win the $77,500 Northern Fling Stakes for Pennsylvania-bred fillies and mares at Presque Isle Downs on Sunday evening. Trained by Graham Motion, Star Pearl ($14.40) finished a length ahead of  a late charging Cat’s Holiday, completing a mile in 1:37.01. y. Also trained by Motion, but not coupled in the betting because of different ownership, Cat’s Holiday was coupled with third-place finisher Angel Terrace trained by Hall of Famer Jonathon Sheppard. Both are owned by Augustin Stable. In the $76,000 Leemat  for Pennsylvania- bred older horses, Star of Reality just held on from a late-charging Roadhog to win by a short head, covering a mile in 1:37.48. Trained by Motion and part of an entry with third-place finisher Pitch N’ Roll trained by Ron Potts for the Elkhorn Group, Star of Reality ($5.40)  finished a head in front of Roadhog,  who finished a head in front of Pitch N’ Roll.
