OZONE PARK, N.Y. – Trainer Linda Rice would like to see Mommasgottarun do just that, albeit with a bit more consistency. Thus, Rice will add blinkers to the 4-year-old filly’s equipment when she starts in a second-level/optional $62,500 claimer that serves as the feature on Friday’s eight-race card at Aqueduct. In both starts since being claimed by Rice for $50,000 on Dec. 31, Mommasgottarun sat up close, dropped back to last on the far turn, and came running in the stretch to cross the wire second. In her Jan. 12 race, Mommasgottarun was elevated to first when the stewards deemed that Spiked, who finished first, had interfered with ultimate third-place finisher Suspended Campaign. In her Jan. 26 start, Mommasgottarun finished second behind Timeless Journey. That filly came back to win last Sunday’s Biogio’s Rose Stakes. Let Her Inspire U and Far Away Love, third and fourth in the Jan. 26 race, came back to win their next start, at Aqueduct and Charles Town, respectively. “I just thought [blinkers] might be helpful to make her a little less spotty,” Rice said. “At the three-eighths pole in her last two races, she backs up to last and you think she’s done and then she comes running.” :: Take your handicapping to the next level and play with FREE DRF Past Performances - Formulator or Classic. Her last two starts were both at 1 1/8 miles. Friday’s race is a mile. In this six-horse field, Rice also sends out Movie Moxy, who overcame a terrible start to win a starter allowance on Feb. 10. “It’s a pretty big jump, but I think she deserves it and frankly what else is she eligible to?” Rice said. “It’s worth a shot.” Eric Cancel rides Mommasgottarun from post 3. Jason Huayas is on Movie Moxy from post 2. Honey Money goes out for trainer Rob Atras – he of the 8 wins from 10 starters last week. Honey Money won a statebred allowance on Dec. 29 before finishing fifth in the Broadway Stakes last out. Her two most recent wins came at a mile. “I’d like to keep her at mile, she gets into the race a little easier going a mile,” Atras said. Self Isolation, also adding blinkers; Pharoah’s Heart, a sharp allowance winner last week; and Toned Up complete the field. :: Want to learn more about handicapping and wagering?
