Grade 3 winner Midnight Hawk will enter stud at Rising Sun Farm in Portmore, Jamaica, for the 2017 breeding season. The 6-year-old son of Midnight Lute retired with five wins in 17 career starts and earnings of $591,750. He won the Grade 3 Sham Stakes in 2014 and notched placings in the Grade 2 San Felipe Stakes and Robert B. Lewis Stakes, as well as the Grade 3 Sunland Derby, Illinois Derby, and Razorback Handicap. Midnight Hawk raced the bulk of his career for a partnership including Hill ‘n’ Dale Equine Holdings Inc., Michael Pegram, and Mike Kitchen, among others. He last raced for Michael Imperio and Rudy Rodriguez; the latter also trained him. Bred in Kentucky by Pegram, Midnight Hawk is out of the Grade 1-placed stakes-winning Wolf Power mare Miss Wineshine, whose six winners from 10 foals to race also include stakes winner Mayor Marv. Chad Schumer Bloodstock brokered the deal sending Midnight Hawk to Jamaica.
