Jockey Forest Boyce was transported to a medical center after she was thrown from a horse during the post parade of the first race at Laurel Park on Sunday. Tests revealed no severe injuries. Boyce was riding 3-year-old gelding Z Bogdan during the post parade of the first race when the first-time starter reared up and fell on top of her before running off loose around the track. Medical staff tended to Boyce while outriders worked to contain Z Bogdan, leading to a slight delay. All other horses entered in the first race were taken back to the paddock until the loose horse was safely caught and Boyce was assisted off the track. The jockey was taken off her two remaining mounts on the card and transported by ambulance and then helicopter to R. Adams Cowley Shock Trauma Center at the University of Maryland for more tests. According to Boyce’s agent, Jay Burtis, the jockey is considered day to day. The 40-year-old is scheduled to ride five horses at Laurel on April 18, but those arrangements were made before her fall Sunday. :: Want to learn more about handicapping and wagering?
