VANCOUVER, British Columbia – Infinite Patience will put her eight-race win streak on the line when she runs in the $50,000 Delta Colleen Handicap at Hastings Saturday. The 1 1/16-mile race for fillies and mares is one of three races that support the Grade 3, $125,000 British Columbia Derby. The $75,000 British Columbia Oaks is a wide-open race, and Porter Gent figures to be a short price to win the $50,000 S.W. Randall Plate for 3-year-olds and up. The Delta Colleen, race 2, and Randall, race 5, are not part of the late pick four, which starts in race 6 with a guaranteed pool of $25,000. Infinite Patience has never been better, which is saying a lot for a horse that has compiled a 13-1-1-record from 18 starts and has never lost going a middle distance on dirt. :: Bet the races with a $200 First Deposit Match and FREE Formulator PPs! Trained by Barbara Heads, the 5-year-old daughter of Sungold is coming off a seven-length romp in the $100,000 Northlands Park Distaff Handicap on Aug. 20 at Century Mile, where she set a track record for the one-mile distance. Her final time of 1:33.63 was more than a second faster than At Attention posted in his win in the $100,000 Century Mile Handicap for 3-year-olds and up on the same card. Her regular rider Antonio Reyes appeared to have her well in hand most of the way, too. “She is something special and I am just lucky to be in her path,” said Heads. Infinite Patience, who towers over her four opponents, will break from the rail with Reyes up. British Columbia Oaks The 1 1/8-mile Oaks drew 10 well-matched horses and goes as race 7. Tiz a Macho Girl could end up favored following her convincing victory in the $75,000 Washington Oaks Aug. 14. With Jake Samuels riding for trainer Jeff Matz, Tiz a Macho Girl broke sharply and forced an honest pace before drawing away in the stretch in the 1 1/16-mile race. Metz thinks the Kentucky-bred daughter of Mucho Macho Man will handle the tighter turns at Hastings just fine. “She is tall but nimble and she trained well over the six-furlong training track at Santa Anita,” said Metz. “She is doing well so I expect her to run a good race.” Tiz a Macho Girl will break from post 8 with Amadeo Perez up. Burrow Downs will make her first start at Hastings for trainer Cindy Krasner. She dominated her opponents in three starts at Assiniboia Downs but came up empty as the odds-on favorite in the $100,000 Century Mile Casino Oaks Aug. 20. The Edgar Mendoza-trained U Did It forced the issue and held on well to lose by a neck to Tone It Up in the 1 1/8-mile Oaks. In her previous start, U Did It broke poorly while finishing third as the heavy chalk in the $50,000 Hong Kong Jockey Club at Hastings Aug. 1. Kloepatra, trained by Larry Grieve, took advantage of the poor start by U Did It to romp in the $50,000 Hong Kong Jockey and will appreciate being back with her own age group after finishing fourth in the $50,000 CTHS Sales Stakes for 3- and 4-year-old fillies Aug. 22. ◗ The Mendoza-trained Porter Gent is going for the hat trick in the Randall following wins going 1 1/16 miles in the $50,000 B.C. Cup Classic Aug. 1 and an open allowance race Aug. 23. Porter Gent’s main threat could be his stablemate Be Quick, who edged him by a nose in the $50,000 Lieutenant Governors’ July 1.
