Hirsch tribute set for Belmont

Daily Racing Form and the New York Racing Association are co-hosting a tribute service for the late turf writer Joe Hirsch on Friday at Belmont Park.

The tribute will be held from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. at Belmont North Shore Terrace on the fourth floor of the clubhouse. Anyone is welcome to attend, the two companies said.

Hirsch died Jan. 9 at age 80 of complications of Parkinson's Disease. During his 50 years at Daily Racing Form, he won every major honor in racing, including the Eclipse Award of Merit and the Lord Derby Award.
