On To Norway marched to his 19th straight victory as a sophomore, capturing the $185,000 Carl Erskine Memorial at Harrah's Hoosier Park on Friday night in a 1:53 4/5 clocking. The son of Muscle Massive cruised for driver John De Long, out-muscling pace-setter Operator into the homestretch and winning decisively. On To Norway, starting from the pole position, willingly allowed outside leavers to gain position in front of him in the early stages as Hilltop Sonar and Chris Page stepped out the quickest once the gates opened. Cheers Hanover and Ronnie Wrenn Jr. were next to gain control into the opening bend before Operator, with Kyle Wilfong, assumed control before the 27 3/5 first quarter was reached. De Long sat chilly in fourth through a methodical second quarter and got on the move without cover shortly before Operator reached the half in a pedestrian 57 second clocking. On To Norway had Hey Porter and Monserrate following his cover through the lower turn as he gained equal footing with the leader coming into the homestretch. The pace had picked up significantly, with Operator landing at three-quarters in 1:26, but his lead was dwindling and On To Norway surged past into the stretch. ► Sign up for our FREE DRF Harness Digest Newsletter The outer flow couldn't keep trotting with On To Norway, the 1-20 favorite, as he gained separation and opened ground, allowing stablemate Cheers Hanover enough room to rally late. Cheers Hanover finished strongly in the 27 4/5 final quarter and was able to get up for second, with Operator third and Monserrate fourth. Trained by Ron Burke, On To Norway won for the 19th time in 20 sophomore starts for owners Burke Racing Stable, Frank Baldachino, Black & White Stable and Michael Rosenthal.
