Miracle Maven and John De Long catapulted off the cover of favorite Divine Thing in the homestretch and gamely held her advantage to the wire to capture the $131,500 Crossroads of America for sophomore filly trotters at Harrah's Hoosier Park on Friday night. A daughter of Don't Let'em that had previously captured the Indiana championship, she held off state rival Martz Seven to the wire in a 1:56 1/5 clocking. Mega Money, Martz Seven and Better Tak'em were engaged three-across the track into the opening turn as De Long placed Miracle Maven along the pylons behind the favored Divine Thing early in the mile. Martz Seveh had control through a snappy 27 second first fraction but yielded to Better Tak'em and Jordan Ross past that marker. Better Tak'em got to the half in 56 seconds before Divine Thing, with Trace Tetrick, went on the offensive without cover, followed by Miracle Maven and Travel Nurse. The third quarter was slowed to 1:26 3/5, and turning into the stretch Better Tak'em shook off the favorite and tried to sprint away. ► Sign up for our FREE DRF Harness Digest Newsletter De Long had Miracle Maven in gear, though, and the Henry Graber Jr.-trained filly took control of the race, with De Long urging her on. Martz Seven had found room and threatened to her inside, but at no point was she able to get up to the winner, settling instead for second. Classical Jane rallied between horses for the third spot. Owned by Hillside Stable, Indiana Stables, Frank Baldachino and Beasty LLC., Miracle Maven was a winner for the seventh time in 12 starts as a sophomore. The victory pushed Miracle Maven's career bankroll to $523K. As the second choice Miracle Maven returned $6.20 to win.
