VANCOUVER, British Columbia - Gotta Find Bubba came from off the pace to beat odds-on favorite Tommy Danzigger by a half-length in the $55,434 CTHS Sales Stakes for 3-year-old colts and gelding at Hastings on Sunday. With Frank Fuentes aboard, Gotta Find Bubba trailed the field early and then made a strong late move while going four wide to get up in the final strides. "He's got a big stride so I didn't want to get him stopped," said Fuentes. "I tried to keep him out of trouble and it worded out well." Gotta Find Bubba, who was the second choice paid $9. He was supposed be ridden by Chad Hoverson, but Hoverson was shaken up when he was thrown from a horse in the third race. Hoverson did come back to ride Brother Jake to a second place finish in the sixth race. "It was very classy of Chad to sit the race out when he might not have been at his best," said Henson. "Frank did a great job but Chad will certainly be on the horse the next time he runs." Final time for the mile and a sixteenth was 1:45.97.
