Prominent breeder Ivan Dalos, trainer Mike Doyle, and the great Ghostzapper are among the 2025 finalists on the ballot for induction into the Canadian Horse Racing Hall of Fame.   The board of the CHRHF determined that the Class of 2025 will be comprised of six inductees per breed and provided the option for a nomination committee to use only five categories and induct two individuals in one category to meet the total of six inductees per breed. A 20-person election committee for each breed will determine the individuals to be inducted in each of the categories, with the results to be announced April 23. The CHRHF Class of 2025 will be formally inducted Aug. 6. Dalos, the breeder of Grade 1 winners Victory Gallop and Kopion, heads the Thoroughbred Builder category, along with John Burness and Phil Kives. The Thoroughbred female horse category consists of Grade 1 winners Careless Jewel, Hard Not to Like, and Marketing Mix. The jockeys on the ballot are Richard Dos Ramos, Emile Ramsammy, and Perry Winters. The Thoroughbred male horse finalists are Fatal Bullet, Rahy’s Attorney, and Ghostzapper, who recently turned 25 and is the sire of champion Moira. Along with Doyle, the trainer finalists are Dale Saunders and Laurie Silvera. The Doyle-trained Bessarabian joins Andy Smithers and Storm Bird in the Thoroughbred Veteran category. The nominees on the Standardbred side are Brad Grant, Kent Oakes, Dr. Maurice Stewart, Dave Briggs, Vance Cameron, Paul Delean, Majestic Son, Marion Marauder, Muscle Mass, Doug Arthur, John Bax, Rod Hennessy, James MacGregor, Golaith Bayama, and Yankee Paco. :: Want to learn more about handicapping and wagering?
