Dave Roberts, who had served as the director of the Florida Division of Pari-Mutuel Wagering since August 2001, resigned the position unexpectedly last Thursday. According to Alexis Lambert, press secretary for the Department of Business and Regulation, Roberts will be replaced on an interim basis by a former deputy director of the wagering panel, Joe Dillmor. In his letter of resignation, Roberts gave no explanation for his sudden move. Lambert said Dillmor would assume full responsibilities as director, including hearing any appeals that may arise regarding stewards' rulings or decisions at any of the state's parimutuel racing facilities.
