ETOBICOKE, Ontario - Euro Platinum, the longest shot in the seven-horse field, nailed favored Barracks Road on the wire to take the $150,800 Jammed Lovely Stakes Wednesday night at Woodbine Racetrack. Barracks Road tracked pacemaker Platinum Exchange while running very wide on the backstretch of the seven-furlong event, as Euro Platinum assumed a stalking position under Jono Jones. Barracks Road seemed headed for victory after hitting the front early in the stretch, but Euro Platinum closed widest in the final furlong and won by a nose in 1:22.94. Platinum Exchange faded a little to finish another 1 1/2 lengths back in third in the field of Ontario-breds. Amiable Grace was scratched. Euro Platinum ($83.10) earned $90,000 for owner-trainer Audre Cappuccitti. She was just two starts removed from won her 10th-out maiden win, and was coming off a runner-up finish in a first-level allowance on the grass. “She’s really a lovely filly,” said Cappuccitti. “I never thought it would take her that long for her [to win]. I thought she’d win by her third race. There were only 14 nominations, and I thought it would be nice to get her stakes-placed. I never expected to win. Jono rode her perfect. I hated the 1-hole, but he sure fixed that.”
