DRF's Horse Racing Playbook for Thursday, December 28, 2023

DRF Staff|Dec 27, 2023
American Mandate (2) finishes second in a December 2018 maiden race at Aqueduct
Joe Labozzetta/NYRA First post for Aqueduct racing is scheduled for 12:50 p.m. ET on Thursday.

Daily Racing Form has served as the most trusted source of news and information about the sport since 1894, and moving forward we have decided to provide a free daily playbook – something that both hardcore horseplayers and casual observers can reference to get informed of each day’s action.

12:38 GP 2nd CHANNEL LOOP (#6, 10-1) was stuck in the 11 hole in her debut and that was two turns on the turf which is as tough as it gets for a debut. She only beat one home but got race experience and that is what matters most. She tried easier in her second start and ran better even without a clean trip. New barn is 12% off the claim and 15% on the green. This filly is bred to love two turns on the green with her turf and distance Tomlinsons of 345 and 353. – Scott Ehlers | Bet this race with DRF Bets

12:50 AQU 1st BY THE GLASS (#1, 5-1) went seven and caught a wet track on debut, where she wound up chasing the favored, front-running winner and gamely got third; dropping back a furlong for the second start did not appear to do her any favors as she wound up last early and chasing while wide; back down in class and bred to stretch out. – Mike Beer | Bet this race with DRF Bets

1:18 AQU 2nd Didn't mind the drops back in distance for UNBRIDLED BOMBER (#6, 5-1) last time but he wound up last and under a hold rating early, and just found not make an impact in the late stages of that race; strong contender in this spot if showing up with his good race this time. – Mike Beer | Bet this race with DRF Bets

2:42 AQU 5th CONNECT THE BROCKS (#4, 30-1) still looked like a work in progress when getting started here last winter and getting some added distance to work with seemed to play to his advantage; did finally improve when moved to Finger Lakes in the spring/summer before getting a break; third off the layoff and properly spotted for the return to Aqueduct after following a short sprint with a tiring effort over a wet track. | Bet this race with DRF Bets

3:12 AQU 6th NOTAH (#3, 8-1) is a DRF Best Bet (Mike Beer). | Bet this race with DRF Bets

4:02 GP 9th INHERENT PROMISE (#1, 4-1) is a DRF Best Bet (Scott Ehlers). | Bet this race with DRF Bets
