ELMONT, N.Y. – A $190,743 pick-six carryover awaits horseplayers Wednesday at Belmont Park, but this sequence doesn’t appear to be any easier than the preceding three that went unsolved. The carryover rose this high after no one was able to select all six winners Friday, Saturday, or Sunday. :: BELMONT: Buy pps for Wednesday's card Wednesday’s sequence, which features four turf races, lacks a clear-cut single. The rails will be out 18 feet on both the Widener and inner turf course, and dry weather is expected. The pick-six begins with race 4 (3:04 p.m. Eastern). A look at the sequence: ◗ Race 4: Nine are entered to run in this starter allowance going 1 1/16 miles on turf. Amazing Anne was claimed for $50,000 by Danny Gargan out of a front-running victory May 29. Gargan has strong numbers first off the claim. In her start prior to the win, Amazing Anne was beaten nine lengths by Ancient Secret, who won Sunday’s $100,000 Wild Applause Stakes to remain unbeaten. Ten Penny Princess was third in that $50,000 claimer with a bit of trouble. Miss Aja Brown comes off the best race of her career, a maiden $75,000 claiming score. She has enough tactical speed to ease concerns about her being drawn near the outside. ◗ Race 5: Not an easy $12,500 claiming sprint. Enduring Touch drops to the lowest level of her career and gets seven-pound apprentice Jomar Torres, so she could be going to the lead. With Liberty Fuze and Is She Hot in the field, the pace should be swift. Da Wildcat Girl, who has shown renewed life since Ed Barker claimed her, and Touching My Toes, also taking a significant drop, should be running late. ◗ Race 6: Tale of Mist and Miles of Humor finished three-quarters of a length apart when second and third behind Doctor Mounty here May 14 at the same 1 1/16-mile distance. Tale of Mist was under a stranglehold by apprentice Sebastian Saez before making an extremely wide move and finishing well. He gets a big rider change to Luis Saez. Miles of Humor got sandwiched at the break of that May 14 race and ran decently. He loses John Velazquez but picks up Javier Castellano. Velazquez rides Magician Man for Tony Dutrow. Magician Man finished well to be second in his six-furlong debut at Parx on May 23. As a son of Drosselmeyer out of an Empire Maker mare, Magician Man should appreciate the added distance. ◗ Race 7: You have to single somewhere, and the closest I can come is Jonrah, who takes a slight drop in class and returns to a course and a distance at which he’s been successful. Castellano rides for Chad Brown. Not sure what to do with Transparent, who tries turf for the first time in his 19th career start. He’s a half to Life Imitates Art, a three-time winner on turf. ◗ Race 8: Kitty Maddnes may have found a soft spot to make her 3-year-old debut and her first start since November. She ran well the first time out last year when third in her debut over the Belmont turf, attempting to close behind a slow pace. Four weeks later, she beat 11 rivals to win her maiden at Aqueduct. “I expect her to run well,” trainer John Morrison said. “She’s pretty much on schedule. We gave her a little break, gearing her to Saratoga and the fall. She’s honest, she’ll try for you. I believe she’s fit enough.” Sugar Mags ran well with blinkers removed last out for trainer David Donk, who is having a terrific meet. Queen of Castle has improved on turf but must deal with post 12. ◗ Race 9: A maiden $40,000 claimer on turf going six furlongs completes the sequence. Crimson Cat was fifth as the favorite for $75,000 going long and was beaten seven lengths. Gets blinkers, shortens up, and keeps Castellano. Bellamy Torch, Doc’s Little Kate, and Double Dose are all in for the claiming price for the first time from high-profile outfits.
