Eve Giselle remained perfect racing over the main track at Delaware Park when she wore down 20-1 longshot Sassy City to capture Saturday’s Grade 3, $151,050 Endine Stakes. Part of a three-way battle up front early in the six-furlong sprint for fillies and mares, the 4-year-old Eve Giselle ($4.40) first put away Kentucky shipper Cosmo Girl after the first half-mile in 44.87 seconds. Eve Giselle and jockey Javier Santiago then had to withstand a stretch challenge from Sassy city, a Suffolk Downs shipper who was making her stakes debut after scoring back-to-back victories to begin her 5-year-old campaign against high-priced optional claimers. Sassy City got within a head of Eve Giselle with a furlong remaining, but Eve Giselle dug down and drew clear to prevail by a length while completing six furlongs on a fast track in 1:08.84. Trained by Tim Ritchey for Bean Counter Stables, Eve Giselle is now 3 for 3 at her home track, including the $125,000 Sweet and Sassy Stakes in late June. She was coming off a runner-up finish as the 1-5 favorite in the Day Lily at Penn National. Overall, Eve Giselle is 6 for 9 lifetime. Sassy City, the second longest shot in a field of eight, was easily second best, five lengths clear of a three-way fight for third. In a tight photo, 3-1 second choice Ms Vanenzza got third by a neck in front of Love That Dance, who in turn beat out Ha Ha Tonka by a neck for fourth.
