The summer meets are here at last. Horseplayers from coast to coast are ecstatic about the start of the Del Mar and Saratoga meets, and contest players are even more so, as both tracks feature major opportunities for contest players in their first few weeks. Why not try to up the bliss quotient by winning into these important tournaments? There are two chances to do just that this weekend on DRF Tournaments. The Saratoga qualifier takes place Saturday and will cost $410 to play. The qualifier will award winning packages to one of every 10 entrants. These packages are worth $3,500, including a $1,000 entry to the Saratoga contest on Friday, Aug. 9, a $2,000 entry to the Saratoga contest on Saturday, Aug. 10, and $500 in travel. The Del Mar qualifier will run Sunday. It costs $495, with one in 20 players winning a package worth $9,000 that includes a Del Mar entry and $500 in travel. The contest itself will take place Saturday and Sunday, July 28–29 in Del Mar’s spectacular Sky Room. For more info about the Del Mar contest, go to www.dmtc.com/calendar/detail/challenge Other important games this weekend include “round one” events for both the Keeneland Challenge and World Championship of Handicapping. A round one event is simply another name for a feeder that puts you directly into a qualifier (a qualifier is a contest where you win your way directly into an important contest, usually ontrack). Saturday’s round one costs $95, with one in seven entries going forward to the World Championship of Handicapping qualifier on Saturday, July 28. For the Keeneland round one, players put up $95, with one in five winning $410 buy-ins into the Sunday, July 22 qualifier. There will also be a number of other chances to play on DRFT in the coming days, including matchups, winner-take-alls, and credit builders, in which you can fund your upcoming contest play. Whether you’re out at Del Mar or Saratoga this weekend, or enjoying the action from afar from your personal war room, DRFT will have an option for you. For more information, go to tournaments.drf.com
