OZONE PARK, N.Y. – Jockey Dylan Davis suffered a broken right collarbone, multiple fractured ribs, and a collapsed lung as a result of a spill in Friday's seventh race at Aqueduct according to agent Mike Migliore. Migliore said it was unclear if or when Davis would undergo surgery or how much time he will miss. Migliore said Davis was coughing up blood and had pain in his chest and his side. He was undergoing more tests at Jamaica Hospital Medical Center. Davis, who turns 31 Saturday, was injured when his mount, Tarpulin, collided with jockey Ricardo Santana Jr. whose mount, Heavyweight Champs, fell in the vicinity of the three-eighths pole on Aqueduct's main track. Santana, who got kicked by Tarpaulin, ultimately got up and was taken to First Aid but was removed from his final mount on Friday’s card. Heavyweight Champs, who got up and galloped riderless to the sixteenth pole, had to be euthanized with an unsalvageable injury to his left front leg, per the New York Racing Association.  Meanwhile, Davis was placed on a backboard, put in an ambulance and transported to Jamaica Hospital Medical Center. Tarpaulin, who, despite flipping and landing on his back, completed the race riderless and was caught by the outrider past the wire. According to his trainer Orlando Noda, Tarpaulin had cuts on his front and hind legs.  Noda said that trainer Rudy Rodriguez won a six-way shake to claim Tarpaulin, but the claim was voided by the stewards. Coincidentally, Rodriguez was the trainer of Heavyweight Champs.  :: Access the most trusted data and information in horse racing! DRF Past Performances and Picks are available now.
