OZONE PARK, N.Y - Dylan Davis finished 2022 as the leading New York Racing Association rider with 186 wins for his first year-long title on this circuit. Davis’s final win came on Amadeus Music in Saturday’s fifth race at Aqueduct, which turned out to be the final NYRA race of 2022. The last four races on Saturday’s card were canceled due to fog, which created visibility issues. “I feel very grateful and honored,” Davis, 29, said. “I was just riding every race hard and again I'm very grateful for me being able to accomplish this. Couldn’t have done it without my agent, Mike Migliore, and everybody else behind me.” Davis finished 11 wins ahead of Manny Franco (175), who was followed by Irad Ortiz Jr. (155), Kendrick Carmouche (137), and Jose Lezcano (128). Ortiz led all winners on this circuit in purse money won with $17,548,594. Franco was second in that category with $13,598,121 while Davis was third with $12,367,369. :: DRF Bets players have exclusive access to FREE DRF Past Performances - Classic or Formulator! His 159 NYRA wins were a personal best for Brown and tied Gary Contessa (2007) for the second most wins in one year at NYRA. David Jacobson’s 164 wins in 2013 is the NYRA record, though there were 239 racing dates that year compared to 196 in 2022. Brown, who also led all NYRA trainers in purse money won with $17,900,030, finished 49 wins ahead of Todd Pletcher (110, $14,116,005). Linda Rice (83), Rudy Rodriguez (76) and Christophe Clement (75) completed the top five in wins. Seth Klarman’s Klaravich Stables, one of Brown’s primary clients, led all owners in wins (57) and purse money won ($6,148,551). Michael Dubb (50), Repole Stable (35), Peter Brant (33) and Reeves Thoroughbred Racing (25) completed the top five. As far as the Aqueduct fall meet was concerned, Kendrick Carmouche won the riding title, 34-31, over Davis. Linda Rice was both the leading trainer and owner. She won 20 races as a trainer and 10 as an owner. The 2023 Aqueduct winter meet begins on Sunday. :: Want to learn more about handicapping and wagering?
