Jockey Abel Cedillo will be based at Oaklawn for the remainder of the meet, said Jay Fedor, who is now representing the rider. Previously based in Southern California, Cedillo is a winner of more than 1,700 races for mount earnings in excess of $51 million. Cedillo has won a number of graded stakes in Southern California, including the Pacific Classic, the Awesome Again, and the Clement Hirsch. Fedor said Cedillo wants to make Oaklawn and Kentucky his new circuit. The rider will head to Churchill Downs after Oaklawn, where he has secured a high number of mounts in just his first week. ◗ Skippylongstocking is on schedule to defend his title in the Grade 2, $1.25 million Oaklawn Handicap, trainer Saffie Joseph Jr. said last week. He added that Alexander Helios, winner of the Grade 3 Razorback over the local strip, is also pointing toward the Oaklawn Handicap. Both horses will be invading from South Florida. The draw for the Oaklawn Handicap will be held Sunday. :: Want to learn more about handicapping and wagering? Check out DRF's Handicapping 101 and Wagering 101 pages.
