OZONE PARK, N.Y. - Trainer Chad Brown’s dominance of the Athenia Stakes continued Sunday at Aqueduct as Whiskey Decision rallied five wide in the stretch under Flavien Prat and outfinished Edict to win the $150,000 turf stakes for females by 1 3/4 lengths.  It was the sixth consecutive victory in the Athenia and 10th overall for Brown, his first one coming in 2013. Earlier this year, Brown won his 10th Grade 1 Diana Stakes at Saratoga.  Whiskey Decision benefitted from a ground-saving ride from Prat, who had her placed along the rail for most of the trip, sitting fourth about three lengths off the pace of 48.01 seconds for the half-mile and 1:13.03 for six furlongs set by Spinning Colors.  When Prat wanted to swing Whiskey Decision out into the clear turning for home he was able to do so unimpeded. Once in the clear, Whiskey Decision kicked hard in the final furlong and was about to outfinish Edict and Kendrick Carmouche.  :: Access the most trusted data and information in horse racing! When I was able to tip her out she gave me a good run.”  Whiskey Decision, a 4-year-old daughter of Into Mischief owned Fred Hertrich III and John Fielding, covered the 1 1/8 miles over firm turf in 1:48.20 and returned $4.24 as the favorite. Whiskey Decision, who began her career in the barn of Arnaud Delacour, has now won two of three starts for Brown and is now 5 for 10 overall.  “Prat took advantage of an inside draw and rode her terrific, I wish I had that trip every turf race,” Brown said. “Then it was up to her, She had enough real estate to get there and she tried.”  In her previous two starts, Edict had tried to go gate to wire to no avail, finishing sixth in the De La Rose Stakes and fifth in the Grade 2 Ballston Spa. Sunday, she rated under Carmouche and ran a much-improved race, making the lead inside the 16th pole only to be run down by Whiskey Decision. Edict finished a half-length in front of Awesome Czech.  “She was more settled here, she was so wound up in Saratoga,” trainer David Donk said. “We did things a little different with her equipment-wise, she was kind with the pony today. She was more settled, Kendrick gave her a great ride, she was just second-best. We’ll do it again.”  :: Want to learn more about handicapping and wagering?
