Rarely have we been as pummeled as in the result of last week’s Pick over which we are still shaking our heads. Last and next to last. Sorry, we will endeavor to do better this week. As for the complete picture from last week, in addition to the large contingent of BreezeFigs black-type earners at the Breeders’ Cup and elsewhere, the 2-year-olds had a nifty time of it. Fourteen of them broke their maidens at: Aqueduct, Churchill, Del Mar, Golden Gate, Gulfstream West (three), Hawthorne, Indiana (BreezeFigs exacta), Parx (two), Penn and Woodbine (two, including a BreezeFigs exacta). The 3-year-olds are still sneaking out wins, this time at Aqueduct, Del Mar, Gulfstream West and Indiana. There are weather complications with projecting today’s Pix but we are hedging a bit with two selections, and hopefully no off-the-turf, see below. Stay safe and good luck! If you’d like to learn a little more about how we come up with BreezeFigs, take a look at our new website by clicking here: www.biodatatrack.com and click on the tab BreezeFigs at the top of the page. In there you will find a link to a major study of how over 17,000 BreezeFigs horses from the sales 2007 through 2013 have succeeded on the racetrack based on Group and stride length. You can also access that study by clicking this link: www.biodatatrack.com/BreezeFigs-Study.pdf. Here’s Saturday’s Pix: 2-Year-Olds Aqueduct, 3rd Race, Maiden Special Weight, 1 1/16 Miles (Turf) This is a dicey Pick because the weather in New York is still crummy as this is being written. However, regardless of whether it comes off the turf, if Please the Pharoah starts we might be in for a real treat. This one posted a five-over-Par Group 1 ticket at OBSMAR with a 25.69 foot stride length (SL), almost three-quarters of a foot longer than average for colts that day at a quarter mile. He could get some competition from both Crew Dragon and Original. Crew Dragon had a good debut on the weeds that verified his two-over-Par Group 1 ticket at OBSAPR where his 25.14 foot SL was almost a quarter-foot longer than average for colts that day at a quarter mile—but he was scratched (SCR) after that move. Original had a crummy trip in his debut but should show better here based on his two-over-Par Group 1 showing at OBSAPR where his 24.81 foot SL was just on average for colts at a quarter mile. Iron Pearls posted a decent five-over-Par Group 2 effort at EASMAY where his 24.71 foot SL was just above average for colts that day at a furlong and improved in his second start when moved to the weeds. No Obligation is on the AE list and is not likely to get in unless it stays on the weeds because he is definitely turf meant based on his first two starts. His five-over-Par Group 1 performance at OBSAPR featured a 25.22 foot SL, a quarter foot longer than average or colts at a quarter mile, a tad longer than Crew Dragon who breezed on the same day. Things may change depending on the surface but if Please the Pharoah is in here, make him your key; if not, give the others some consideration. Del Mar, 1st Race, Maiden Special Weight, 5 Furlongs (Turf) It’s taken a year for Marie to get to the races after her even-Par Group 2 strut at FTCJUN where she posted a 23.44 foot SL, more than three-quarters of a foot longer than average for fillies that day at a furlong. She can’t be all that bad and should be a gimmick consideration with an eye on the board for the mix. Good luck!
