Arctic Breeze capitalized on a taxing and contested early pace to post a significant upset in Sunday's Kent Stakes over 6 1/2 furlongs at Emerald Downs. Ridden by Karlo Lopez, Arctic Breeze bided her time near the back of the field and was in front of just a single foe with three furlongs to run. The daughter of Arrogate advanced steadily in mid-track before ducking inside for room and was up in the closing strides to win by a neck over Chai. After covering the distance in 1:17.62 on a fast track, the Blaine Wright trainee returned $25.62 to her scattered backers. :: Bet the races with a $200 First Deposit Match + FREE All Access PPs! Chai raced just in front of Arctic Breeze along the backstretch and was first of the pair to begin to advance. The Kay Cooper trainee angled out to reach the lead in mid-stretch before being run down late. It was another 1 3/4 lengths back to Paynt Ya Later in third place. Favored Appeal Factor was used up battling for the lead from along the inside. Most of those with her later faded as well.  The exception was I'm Telling Mom, who broke on top and then pressured Appeal Factor early. She then dropped back, raced in traffic to where she was seventh a furlong out and then rallied to run a strong fourth. Next up for the 3-year-old filly division is the Washington Oaks over 1 1/16 miles on Aug. 11. :: Want to learn more about handicapping and wagering?
