Three things you should know before betting on Bruins-Avalanche:

1. The Avalanche have won seven games in a row and 12 of their last 13 coming into this one, and they're also 17-2 in their last 19 games. This is just one of the hottest teams in hockey at the moment, but it is worth noting that the Bruins are also playing extremely well. Boston is 10-3 in its last 13 games and this team is capable of beating anybody on any given night. But if you're worried about the Bruins winning this one, you always have the puck line as an option. You can get Boston +1.5 at just about -140 in this one, which is a great price for an underdog on the puck line.

2. Over the last three seasons, Boston is 12-3 when playing on the road against non-conference opponents and the average score in those games had the Bruins averaging 2.9 goals per game and their opponent averaging 2.1. Meanwhile, the Avalanche are 2-6 against the spread in home games after four or more consecutive Unders in that same timeframe. Colorado is also due for a loss at some point in the near future, and Boston has the mental toughness to go on the road and be the team to deal it to them. Brad Marchand is really going to want to go out there and steal this road game, and his teammates will follow his leadership.

3. The Under is 12-6-2 when Boston is coming off a game in which the team gave up five or more goals over the last three seasons. This team tends to bounce back with solid performances after letting things get out of hand, and that's part of the reason this one should be somewhat low scoring. The Bruins also have the 10th-lowest goals against average in hockey this year, so it's not like this is a team that gives up a lot very often. The fact that this total can be had at 6.5 in some places is a little crazy.

THE PICKS: Bruins +1.5 AND Under 6.5
