The Boston Bruins look to rebound against the Carolina Hurricanes after a 5-1 defeat in Game 1 of the First Round on Monday night. The game will be broadcasted on ESPN beginning at 7:00 PM from PNC Arena in Raleigh, North Carolina.

Bruce Cassidy is expected to go with Linus Ullmark in goal for the Bruins while Antti Raanta is expected to make another start in goal for the Hurricanes. Carolina comes in as the slight favorites at -120 odds, with the total goals sitting at a 5.5 O/U.

Recent Trends

Carolina swept the three-game season series against Boston and have taken a 1-0 series lead into tonight’s game. The Hurricanes are currently riding a seven-game winning streak and have been able to produce plenty of offense along the way.

Key Injuries

Jesper Froden has been listed as day-to-day with a lower-body injury for the Bruins while Frederik Andersen remains sidelined with an undisclosed injury for the Hurricanes.

Why Bruins Can Win

Boston’s defense has allowed 10 goals over the past two games, but is a team that can quickly turn things around. Brad Marchand and David Pastrnak are threats on the ice at all times, which can open some other players up for quality goal opportunities.

The Bruins have several veterans who have plenty of playoff experience, so the Game 1 loss may not have phased the team too much. Boston should be able to score more goals in Game 2 after just the lone goal on Monday.

Why Hurricanes Can Win

Home-ice advantage is a major component of winning playoff games, and the fans in Raleigh know how to make PNC Arena loud. Carolina is currently riding high on their winning streak and don’t show many signs of slowing down soon.

If the Hurricanes can jump out to a quick lead and get the crowd behind them as early as possible, Boston may have a hard time swinging the momentum. Carolina’s offense has been rolling lately, which may slow down some, but the firepower is still going to be present.
