Philadelphia Eagles at Dallas Cowboys (-4)

Three things you need to know before betting on Eagles-Cowboys:

1. The home team has dominated this divisional series in recent years, going 5-0 both straight-up and against the spread with the host outscoring the visitor by 6 or more points in each of the five meetings and by an average margin of 15 points per game. Three of those five matchups have been Dallas victories over the visiting Eagles, including the Cowboys’ 37-17 win as a 4.5-point home underdog in the most recent meeting between the teams last December. With Philadelphia quarterback Jalen Hurts making his third career NFL start in that one, the Eagles raced out to a 14-3 first-quarter lead before being outscored 34-3 the rest of the way, thanks in part to Hurts throwing two interceptions and losing a fumble. Philadelphia was a 3-point road underdog in each of its previous two trips to Dallas, losing 29-23 in December 2018 and 37-10 in October 2019.

2. The Eagles are one of the few teams against which the Cowboys have had success when playing at home in recent seasons. While Dallas is 2-0 both straight-up and against the spread at home against Philadelphia over the past two calendar years, the Cowboys are 5-7 straight-up and 4-8 against the spread against other visitors during that span. Dallas is 2-3 straight-up and 0-5 against the spread as a home favorite since the start of last season. In the 20 games the Cowboys have played as a favorite since the start of 2019, they’ve gone 7-13 straight-up and 5-15 against the spread.

3. The Eagles have tended to play relatively low-scoring games against NFC opponents in recent years. Dating back to Philadelphia’s aforementioned 37-10 loss in Dallas in October 2019 in which the total closed at 50, 15 of the past 22 games the Eagles have played against NFC foes have gone Under the total. That includes both of Philadelphia’s two games this season, both of which closed with a total of 49. Neither game came close to that mark, with the Eagles winning their opener 32-6 in Atlanta, then losing 17-11 at home to San Francisco in Week 2.
