Bears at Lions Betting Preview
Three things you need to know before betting on Bears-Lions:
1. This marks the third time in the past four years that the American viewing public has been treated to Chicago playing at Detroit in the first Thanksgiving Day game. The Bears won both games outright, covering a 3-point spread in a 23-16 victory in 2018 before failing to cover a 5.5-point spread in a 24-20 win in 2019. The Lions extended their Thanksgiving Day losing streak to four straight seasons with a 41-25 loss as a 3-point home underdog to Houston.
2. After a 13-10 loss as a double-digit road underdog at Cleveland this past Sunday, the Lions are now 1-12-1 straight-up and 4-10 against the spread as an underdog in November games since the start of the 2017 season. All 10 of those against-the-spread losses have been by 7 or more points and by an average margin of 11.3 points per game.
3. The Bears are 1-5 both straight-up and against the spread in November road games since the start of the 2019 season—the lone straight-up victory was the aforementioned 24-20 win as a 5.5-point favorite in Detroit on Thanksgiving in 2019 while the lone against-the-spread win was earlier this month when Chicago lost 29-27 as a 7-point underdog in a Monday night game at Pittsburgh. The four November road losses prior to that one were all by 7 or more points and by an average margin of 10.3 points per game.
