Some storylines to look for in the upcoming NBA season:

1. Old is new again. Should the All-Star Game be the Over-30s vs. the Under-30s? Don't underestimate the old guys. The starters would be LeBron James, Kevin Durant, Kawhi Leonard, Stephen Curry and Dame Lillard, with James Harden, Chris Paul, Paul George, Russell Westbrook, Jimmy Butler and DeMar DeRozan off the bench. Throw in Draymond Green and Klay Thompson. OK, this might turn into a rout.

2. It's all about the long ball. The Jazz attempted 43 3-pointers per game last season. During Curry's NBA career (since 2009-10), the team leaders in 3-pointers have accumulated a 654-294 record, a .690 winning percentage that is 51 percentage points higher than the champion Bucks' regular-season mark last year.

3. Tanking teams. The race is on for the right to draft Gonzaga big man Chet Holmgren. Look out below for a trade-deadline call on Portland's Damian Lillard, Washington's Bradley Beal, Minnesota's Karl-Anthony Towns or Sacramento's De'Aaron Fox.

4. The James Harden Rule. We'll see what Harden thinks this season when the NBA cracks down on 3-point shooters throwing their bodies into defenders, trying to get free throws.

5. Going for gold. Auditions are underway for the next Olympic team in 2024. Zion Williamson and Trae Young are already on it probably. Maybe even De'Aaron Fox. Keep an eye on this potential breakthrough quartet: Jaylen Brown, Tyler Herro, Jarrett Allen and, yes, Lonzo Ball.
