Notre Dame Fighting Irish vs. Wisconsin Badgers (-6)
Saturday 9/25, 12:00 p.m. ET

Three things you need to know before betting on Notre Dame-Wisconsin:

1. The Badgers should be well-rested after having had a bye last Saturday. The Irish, meanwhile, are coming off a 14-point victory as a 7.5-point home favorite against Purdue. That improved Notre Dame’s record to 4-1 straight-up and 3-1-1 against the spread when facing a Big Ten opponent since the start of the 2017 season. If you’re looking for an additional reason to back the underdog Irish, consider that Wisconsin is just 2-4 straight-up and 1-5 against the spread over its past six regular-season games as a favorite. The Badgers’ lone against-the-spread win during that span was a 27-point win as a 26-point home favorite over Eastern Michigan two Saturdays ago.

2. Under head coach Paul Chryst, Wisconsin is just 9-12 against the spread when coming off a win by 17 or more points. The Badgers are also 1-3 against the spread as neutral-field favorites, and they’re 0-2 both straight-up and against the spread as neutral-field favorites of seven points or less under Chryst. There’s also a little added fire on the Notre Dame side, as Wisconsin gave up on quarterback Jack Coan in order to pave the way for the Graham Mertz era — which is off to a very slow start. That led the way for Coan to go and become the starter for the Fighting Irish, and he and his teammates will definitely be extra hungry for a win here.

3. In the 17 games that Wisconsin has played as a favorite of 3.5 to 10 points under Chryst, the Under has hit in 12 of those contests. The Under is also 11-2 when Wisconsin is coming off back-to-back home games in that span. Also, after back-to-back Overs to start the season, Notre Dame’s meeting with Purdue went Under rather easily. As for Wisconsin, the Badgers haven’t played a game that has gone Over the total yet this season.
