Colorado State Rams at Iowa Hawkeyes (-23)

Three things you need to know before betting on Colorado State-Iowa:

1. This is the first meeting between Colorado State and Iowa in the history of these two programs. The Hawkeyes have also played just one game against a Mountain West opponent in Kirk Ferentz’s time with the team, so this isn’t exactly familiar territory for either of these two. Last week, Colorado State earned an impressive 22-6 win as a 14.5-point road underdog against the Toledo Rockets. Meanwhile, Iowa was a 22.5-point favorite against the Kent State Golden Flashes, and the Hawkeyes won, 30-7. Iowa hasn’t allowed an opponent to rush for 100 yards yet this season.

2. This is the second week in a row that Iowa is favored by more than three touchdowns. The Hawkeyes are 9-0 straight-up and 6-3 against the spread when playing as home favorites since the start of September 2019, and they have outscored visiting opponents by an average of more than three touchdowns over those nine games. That’s a bad sign for Colorado State, as the Rams are 2-9 straight-up and 4-7 against the spread as road underdogs in that same three-year span.

3. Both of these teams have been involved in low-scoring games to start the year. After the Over hit in Colorado State’s first game, the Rams followed it up with back-to-back Unders. Meanwhile, all three of Iowa’s games have gone Under the total. Also, the Under is also 36-18-5 in the 59 games the Hawkeyes have played after a home win by 17 points or more under Ferentz. It's also 5-1 in Iowa September games since the start of 2019.
