OZONE PARK, N.Y. – Laddie Liam has not had an easy time of it since being purchased by Leonard Green’s DJ Stable for $450,000 out of Fasig-Tipton’s Mid-Atlantic sale in December. First, Laddie Liam missed the Jerome Stakes on Jan. 1 due to a foot injury. Now, Laddie Liam will be sidelined four to six months with a tendon injury after an on-track incident a few weeks ago, according to Jon Green, the racing manager for his father’s operation. “Another horse ran into him on the racetrack,” Green said. “We’ll be rehabilitating him for four to six months and hopefully we’ll bring him back later this year.” :: To stay up to date, follow us on: Facebook | Instagram | Twitter Laddie Liam is trained by Gary Contessa. Laddie Liam, a Maryland-bred son of Golden Lad, won three of his first five starts, including the Maryland Juvenile Futurity by 4 1/2 lengths, just days before he went through the auction ring. He had previously been owned by Joseph Besecker and trained by Hugh McMahon. Convict, another 2-year-old owned by the Greens and trained by Contessa, is nearing his first work back in about a month. Convict, a New York-bred son of Constitution, won his debut by a neck on Dec. 5 and had worked three times before having to be stopped on. Jon Green said that Convict could be pointed to the Gotham on March 7 or the Damon Runyon for New York-breds on March 15.
