Taree Racecourse is a familiar venue for Texas Storm, who starts in a one-mile handicap at the Australian track on Monday. Texas Storm is trained by Taree-based Bob Milligan. In nine career starts at Taree, Texas Storm has won four races, including handicaps at 6 1/4 furlongs on April 10 and about seven furlongs on May 3. Texas Storm has been less effective at a mile, going winless in three career starts at the distance. The trend may be reversed Monday in a race that represents a drop in class for the 6-year-old gelding. Texas Storm was fourth of 14 in a tougher seven-furlong handicap at Scone on May 14, closing well in the final furlong. A winner of 5 of 37 starts, Texas Storm is part of a field of 13 at Taree and merits massive respect along with Scorched Land. :: Get free past performances, analysis, and picks for Australian racing The one-mile handicap is the sixth of seven races on a program that begins at 10:50 p.m. Eastern, or 7:50 p.m. Pacific, on Sunday. Wagering is available through DRFBets.com. Scorched Land has won 2 of 3 starts at Taree and 4 of 13 starts in his career. Trained by Todd Howlett, Scorched Land has not started since a second-place finish in a handicap at 1 5/16 miles at Tamworth in April. More recently, Scorched Land was sixth in two barrier trials, or schooling races from the gate, in May. Scorched Land won a one-mile handicap at Taree in February, his only start at the distance in his career. Similar to Texas Storm, Scorched Land closes from off the pace. Done Good is a mile specialist, having won twice at the distance, which represent the only wins of his 21-race career.  Done Good won a one-mile handicap at Taree on May 9 and was second at the venue in another one-mile race on May 24. Those races were against lower-class rivals. If Done Good can handle this tougher group, he could be a factor at a price.
