The Skinny
Who knew he could swim? Then again, we shouldn't be surprised at anything this guy does. He has beaten all comers, and was so impressive in his Kentucky Derby romp. He showed wonderful tactical speed as he refused to let Lion Heart get away down the backstretch, then made a dramatic move on the turn to draw on even terms. Put away Lion Heart in only a handful of strides in upper stretch, and was powering away from them all in the lane. Galloped out nicely, and hasn't turned a hair in his Preakness preparations. Figures to sit a similar trip at Pimlico, and should have Lion Heart in his sights when the field turns for home. An obvious danger on any footing, Smarty Jones looms the one to beat in the second jewel of the Triple Crown.
