The Skinny
He's come a long way for team Zito. Probably on the second or third-string when the season started, but earned a Belmont berth with a solid score in the Sir Barton on the Preakness undercard. Has actually never run a bad race. Pulled off a 16-1 upset to win his debut at seven furlongs at Gulfstream, then ran third in one of the fastest seven furlong races of the GP meet (Value Plus' AN1X). Rallied nicely against the grain of a speed-favoring track in his first start around two turns on March 13, and wasn't disgraced after an awkward start in the Wood Memorial two starts back. Agile runner found the rail going into the first turn of the Sir Barton, and angled wide turning for home. Wore down the pacesetters to win going away, but was under an all-out drive to do so, and his gallop-out wasn't the best. Deserves a shot at the big time, but his Beyers pale in comparison to those of the top contenders. Must do more to upset the apple cart.
