Best Bet: ONEISALONELYNUMBER (11th) Spot Play: CENTURY CHURCHILL (7th) Race 3 - $25,000 Guaranteed Pick Five Pool Race 8 - $50,000 Guaranteed Pick Four Pool MEET STATS: 63 - 214 / $386.50 (-$41.50) BEST BETS: 9 - 17 / $32.50 (-$1.50) Race 1 (2) R M BLACKHAWK went down the road in his last start at this level and should have a clear shot at the repeat. (5) BEACHCHIP HANOVER was used up early last time and paid the price; chance with cleaner trip. (6) P H KENNY hasn’t won in a long time but does get a barn and driver change here. Race 2 In a race that appears loaded with early speed players, I’ll roll the dice with longshot (2) MAJOR LEGACY. He gets class relief tonight and missed by a nose when last seen at this level. (5) ALTA LEROY N is certainly fast enough to win here if ready off the bench; qualifier was solid. (1) ROCKET J comes off two good efforts in this class and should be plenty live a couple of days before he’s due to sell. (6) DURANT & (8) WINDSONG JACK have big early speed and a history of success here; both are capable. Race 3 (1) MAGIC TRICKS has a nice advantage in this spot starting from the inside post with early speed in his arsenal. (10) IDEAL SHADOW has the early firepower to overcome the outside draw but may need to work much harder than the top pick to secure position. (4) EVERY INTENTION & (6) MASTER OF PUPPETS are both capable of winning given a clean trip and a bit of pace help to set them up. Race 4 (1) MT STERLING MAFIA raced well upon arrival at The Meadowlands and should be well spotted for an early brush move from the inside post; sale-bound Monday. (4) ROCKIN HANK was stuck behind a wall of horses and lost any chance of getting a check last time. (6) OBSCENE BLUE CHIP has been super since coming in from Yonkers but hasn’t proven capable of any tactical speed. (3) BIG STRETCH MARK could make the top easily in this spot and that alone makes him dangerous. Race 5 (5) ZOOMING has been a bit of a tease lately but his best efforts have been from good posts. I think the price might be right with him here as people may be getting tired of losing money on him. (7) BEE IN CHARGE raced much better than I expected while double-jumping in class last time; obvious player. (1) UPFRONT BILLY couldn’t handle the trip last time out and now has missed five weeks of action. If he is right, he fits in here. (4) GOLDEN TATE ships down from Saratoga for live connections. (8) QUEEN ADJALA & (9) MONTALBANO BI are capable players from the Harmon barn that have their work cut out for them from outside posts. Race 6 In a race with many contenders in which I don’t have a strong opinion, (10) COUSIN MARY has been sharp for some time and should offer some value starting from the tough outside post. (8) CAROBBEAN PACETRY is fast off the gate and is coming off a win; dangerous again. (7) ABBIJADE HANOVER is another mare that is likely to be forwardly placed but I like her better underneath. (9) GLENFERRIE BRONTE N switches to the big track and perhaps she can get a fast pace to close into. Race 7 (9) CENTURY CHURCHILL took a tour of the track last time and raced evenly. As long as new driver Napolitano gets aggressive, I’m expecting a much better performance. (1) SUPER IMPOSED N is a fast horse who I always thought would do better than he has done in the United States. He has a big shot in here despite being sent out by an 0-28 barn. (7) DIAL OR NODIAL came off the bench with a strong mile and should be tighter now. Veteran has tons of class with over $1.7 million earned. (3) CHEYENNE SEEBER gets a driver switch to Gingras and could show more. (6) AIR STRIKE never lived up to expectations as a 3-year-old but could potentially turn into a nice older performer. Race 8 (6) EXPLOSIVE MAN was once highly regarded but simply couldn’t mind his manners long enough to finish a mile. He seems to have his head screwed on straight now as he goes for five wins in a row. (1) B YOYO could crush this group if he brings his best game to the track. He’s coming off a break and headed to the sale on Monday. Will he be live or handled cautiously to avoid another mishap? (8) SOUTHWIND FLASH is another horse going under the hammer Monday which has speed and is coming off a break. Race 9 (6) ALLBLACK STRIDE N finished very nicely with Lasix added last time and should only be better here in his third Stateside start. (1) STARZNHEAVEN has been racing well and gets a nice post edge on many of the other contenders. (8) SWEET BEACH gets into this race under a strange sub condition. On his best he would be very competitive. (9) ART HISTORY & (10) JK WILL POWER are both fast enough to compete but have outside posts; both sale-bound. Race 10 (8) BIG TOP HANOVER raced evenly while dealing with traffic last week against slightly better competition. This is far from an easy spot but he should offer fair value. (2) ALLSTAR PARTNER has speed and form on his side; must use. (3) FRANKY’S BEACH BOY steps up off some big miles. Four-year-old might just be this good. (4) MACHAMILLION N has a few starts under his belt since shipping in from Down Under; improves? Race 11 (1) ONEISALONELYNUMBER gets class and post relief tonight. He really shouldn’t lose in this soft spot. (10) NOBLES FINESSE was able to gun down the road the last time he reached this NW5000 level. (2) PERFECTLY CLOSE went a tough trip last time. He should stick close to the action in here. Race 12 (4) BRUCE’S MAGIC posted a big mile last time and now climbs the class ladder. He is every bit as fast as this group and should offer a good price. (2) SOUTHWIND GENERAL came up with a strong mile in the slop last time out and now Gingras is in the bike; underlay. (3) K-LEES SHAKENBAKE is down in class and slated to sell on Monday; capable of waking up. Race 13 (1) PEPPER GUY faces a very soft bunch and should be tough to beat as the heavy chalk. (3) SOFER can show early speed and sit a good trip behind the top pick. (5) OFFDAHOOK BLUECHIP didn’t get involved from post 10 last time out; sale horse. (2) DEEPFAVE HANOVER should stick close from the good post and get a nice piece. Race 14 (7) WELLWESAID loses his driver to another horse which will likely bump the odds up on him despite a two-race winning streak. There seems to be ample early speed signed on to set up his late rally. (5) TERROR OF THE NITE has a win and a neck loss third in his last two tries for this claiming price. (2) FOX VALLEY CADET bumps up slightly off a win; plenty fast enough to compete. (6) MAY I CRUISE WEST has been very consistent of late.
