Dunham wins Prairie Cup

Prairie Meadows' Team #1 bound for National Handicapping Championship IV in Las Vegas consists of the top finishers in Prairie's 2004 Handicapping Cup, which included contests from Jan. 25 to July 10.

The Prairie Meadows Handicapping Cup championship went to Lee Dunham of West Des Moines, Iowa, who earned a grand prize of $5,000 for his efforts.

The Prairie Meadows Handicapping Cup involved two separate tournaments, a simulcast tournament and a live racing tournament. The simulcast tournament had preliminaries on Jan. 25, Feb. 22, and March 13, which the live racing tournament held prelims on April 24, May 15, and June 26. The top five finishers from each preliminary then advanced to the Handicapping Cup championship round on July 10.

The winners of both the live and simulcast finals as well as the overall championship winner all advanced to the NHC to represent Prairie Meadows' Team #1 in Las Vegas.

Repeat National Handicapping Championship qualifier Partick Lamoreux of Iowa City and Lee Dunham of Mike Leeper of Altoona, Iowa split the live and simulcast titles and earned $1,000 in prize money each for their victories.
