Home: Burlington, Ky. Age: 40 Occupation: Casino dealer Road to the Finals: Won Ellis Park's contest on Aug. 6. Bio: Pulled-off the rare feat of winning a tournament at the same track in back-to-back years when he won the Ellis Park handicapping contest on July 16. He also was the cumulative winner at Ellis Park in 2003 before going on to finish 137th at NHC V in Jan. 2004. Was first introduced to the races when a friend took him to the harness races at age 18, and he started handicapping Thoroughbreds when he was 21. Counts seven pick sixes to his credit (the largest being $10,000), but considers cashing a big ticket on fellow Kentucky boy John Ward's Monarchos in the Kentucky Derby to be his top handicapping achievement, because it helped pay for his wife's wedding ring. Petkovsek is now in the process of forming his own race horse syndicate.
